With the start of a new school year and the beautiful Iowa weather we've been having I found myself wondering how many kids began their day with a bike ride and pedaled to school.
I took a quick ride around town stopping at schools within the boundary feeder system for our neighborhood. Which would have the most bikes parked outside? How many Waukee students chose to commute to school by bike?
First stop, Waukee Elementary.
Then off to Vince Meyer Learning Center. Fifth graders from Waukee Elementary attend here due to space constraints the growing school district is experiencing.
Next stop, Waukee Middle School where 6th, 7th, and 8th graders attend.
On over to the 9th grade building, Prairieview.
Finally Waukee High School, where over 1,400 students attend.
With four bike racks filled to the brim, the kids at Waukee Middle School came out ahead. A big Iowa Bike Rides "high five" to all the Waukee students choosing to commute by bike!
