Dogwood Canyon Nature Park

On a spring break getaway to Tablerock Missouri I enjoyed a morning at Dogwood Canyon Nature Park.

Back in 1990 the founded of Bass Pro Shops bought the land to preserve the canyon’s environment. It is now managed by a nonprofit organization with tourist profits going towards the Dogwood Canyon Foundation.

Changes to the park have been made since my first visit nine years ago. Additions include a welcome center, restaurant, tree house, and chapel. Biking, trout fishing, hiking, horseback riding are still recreational options. Segways and tram tours are new ways to get around the park. (Check out their website for pictures.)

I rented a bike and rode the paved trail stopping to take lots of pictures. The park has a trout stream, waterfalls, ancient burial caves, and beautiful stone bridges.

Ten years ago the canyon was much quieter and less touristy. The beauty hasn’t changed a bit.

Happy Riding!
